Strava & Garmin Connect Guide

Connect one activity provider and sync your running to Elite You

1 Connecting Strava

Connecting Strava lets Elite You import your running activities and show them on your calendar next to planned sessions. You can connect Strava or Garmin Connect, not both at the same time.

Step-by-step:

  1. 1 Open the Calendar page in Elite You
  2. 2 Expand the "Strava or Garmin Connect" section
  3. 3 Click the official "Connect with Strava" button
  4. 4 Log in to Strava if needed, review permissions, and authorize Elite You
  5. 5 You'll return to Elite You with a success message. Use Sync Historical to import the last 30 days.

What we access from Strava:

  • • Your public profile information
  • • Your running activities and workouts
  • • Activity details such as distance, pace, and time
  • • We do not access private messages. Activities set to Only You may not sync.

2 Connecting Garmin Connect

Connecting Garmin Connect imports authorized activity data from the Garmin Connect app. Disconnect Strava first if it is already connected.

Step-by-step:

  1. 1 Open the Calendar page in Elite You
  2. 2 Expand the "Strava or Garmin Connect" section
  3. 3 Click the official "Works with the Garmin Connect app" badge
  4. 4 Sign in to Garmin Connect and approve Activity Export and Historical Data Export
  5. 5 You'll return to Elite You. Activities from the last 60 days usually load within a few minutes.

What we access from Garmin Connect:

  • • Activity data you authorize, including distance, duration, and related fitness metrics when available
  • • Historical activities from the last 60 days after you connect
  • • New activities after you sync your device with the Garmin Connect app
  • • Connecting is for importing data into Elite You, not for sending Elite You data back to Garmin Connect

3 How syncing works

Once connected, Elite You shows imported activities on your calendar alongside planned sessions.

Strava

  • • New activities typically appear within about 20 minutes
  • • Use Sync Historical to import the last 30 days
  • • Activities appear on your calendar next to planned sessions
  • • Sync continues in the background

Garmin Connect

  • • The last 60 days usually load shortly after you connect
  • • New activities arrive after a Garmin Connect app sync
  • • Calendar items show Garmin attribution, including the device name when available
  • • There is no separate historical-sync button for Garmin Connect

One provider at a time:

  • • Disconnect the current provider before connecting the other
  • • Disconnecting removes that provider's stored activities from your calendar
  • • Your training plan is not deleted when you switch providers

4 Troubleshooting Common Issues

If activities are missing or a connection fails, try these steps:

Connection fails

If authorization does not complete:

  • • Clear your browser cache and cookies, or try another browser
  • • Make sure you are signed in to Strava or Garmin Connect
  • • Disconnect the other provider first if it is already connected
  • • Check your internet connection and try again

Activities not syncing

If activities aren't appearing:

  • • Strava: wait up to 20 minutes, then refresh the calendar
  • • Strava: confirm activities are visible to Everyone or Followers, not Only You
  • • Garmin Connect: sync your watch or device with the Garmin Connect app first
  • • Garmin Connect: allow a few minutes after connecting for the last 60 days to load

Rate limit messages

If you see a rate-limit notice on Strava:

  • • This is temporary and usually resolves on its own
  • • Sync will resume automatically
  • • No action is required from you

Permissions

If you need to re-authorize:

  • • Disconnect and reconnect the same provider from the Calendar page
  • • Strava: check privacy settings so activities are not Only You
  • • Garmin Connect: approve Activity Export and Historical Data Export when prompted
  • • Contact support if the issue persists

5 Disconnecting

You can disconnect Strava or Garmin Connect at any time. This stops automatic syncing for that provider.

How to disconnect:

  1. 1. Go to the Calendar page
  2. 2. Find the "Strava or Garmin Connect" section
  3. 3. Click Disconnect
  4. 4. Confirm in the popup

What happens when you disconnect:

  • • Automatic activity syncing stops immediately
  • • Stored activities from that provider are removed from your calendar
  • • Your training plans are not affected
  • • You can reconnect the same provider, or the other one, at any time
